Floor to Ceiling Brass Fireplace - Highlight of an Amazing Build
If you’ve ever worked with wood, you know it’s rarely straight and square. And if you’ve ever worked with metal, you know it is the opposite. This makes wrapping sections of walls built by framing contractors with two-by-fours and sheetrock that are often at least slightly warped and not quite true a challenge.
When you add in a center section of the wall that moves on an electronic lift to expose the big-screen television underneath, the degree of difficulty goes through the roof.
With time, thought, trial and error, and a whole lot of hard work and man-hours, however, we got the job done.
We wrapped this large fireplace in brass paneling, added black panels to the interior and the sides of the fireplace, and created a centerpiece to this amazing Entrada home that will dazzle and impress.
The Brass Fireplace
Over three dozen brass panels of varying sizes were crafted to cover this huge structure. Each one custom measured and crafted to fit the space and quirks of the woodworking underneath.
We started by crafting a subframe built with engineered wood in order to create a square surface. Once we had a square foundation to attach the brass panels to, we got to work bending and forming the brass to fit.
The added difficulty of building a frame and wrapping it in brass on a section that has to move and clear the interior of the fireplace as it slides up, can’t be understated.
But in the end, the work was worth the effort as the finished project is truly a work of art.
Metallic Touches Throughout the Home
While the brass fireplace is the centerpiece of this amazing home built by the Shakespeare Development Group, it’s by no means the only metallic touch we designed and crafted for this spectacular home.
We created floating metallic shelves in the owner’s suite and a floating metal-wrapped bench in the game room. In addition, we built inserts for the double-sided fireplace in the owner’s suite. We installed custom chimney caps and caps for the stonework on the roof and gates for the exterior of the home. And we installed a brass range hood in the kitchen across from the floor-to-ceiling brass fireplace to add to the metallic components of the main living space in the home.
The complete package works to add custom touches you won’t see in any other home in quite the same combination making this entire build a unique and one-of-a-kind design.
